    I. Demand and Analysis
    Nowadays most IDC are reconstructed on the basis of the traditional telecommunication rooms. But there is great distinction between them. Telcommunication room was mainly designed for the transmission equipment, and the power supply was generally negative 48V with low capacity. The IDC, also described as “electrical tiger”, will be with high-power, high-heat equipments such as the intensive servers and large storage devices. Therefore, to set up a IDC requires power expansion.
     
    The previous UPS projects for data center were usually based on single unit or in series, which include the problem of malfunction from single unit output. In order to ensure 100% high reliability of power supply for the critical loads, the mode of dual-loop power supply output is suitable and recommended.

    IV. Solution Case
    In order to solve the malfunction from the loop of power distribution, it is necessary to set up N + X redundant power supply system for servers. In this case, each UPS was carried part of power output averagely, which make them in light load status for stable working.
     
    If one UPS was broken down, the another one would continute the work for the load of servers without any problem. And the user could be informed by the alarm of light and nocie for the UPS malfunction. In addition, the user could repair and replace the wrong UPS without shutting down the power system, which avoid the damage or loss from power-off. 
     
    For the single type power supply equipment, such as network exchange, we recommend to use KTS redundancy transfer switch for dual-loop power supply program. When one UPS or loop was in malfunction, the KTS would switch to another UPS without any delay.
    For the big data center system, we recommend to carry full redundant protection on every loop or equipment from the utility input to load input for the high reliability.
